Sunwise Ambassador - Nathan Fullerton
Nathan is a London-born 19 year old international indoor and beach volleyballer playing at the highest level of volleyball in GB alongside his studies at Newcastle University. Nathan has very high ambitions of competing in national and international beach volleyball this summer. Growing up in a family of volleyballers, it was only right that he too take up the sport. He started competing with Willesden Volleyball Club, ran by his father at the age of 12. Ever since he has been hooked and only further encouraged to play watching local games on weekends. 2 years later Nathan was scouted by England’s development program.
Since starting the sport, volleyball has become a fundamental part of his life. At 15 Nathan moved to Bournemouth joining LeAF Elite Academy, a full-time training program facilitating his A-Levels too. LeAF's professional environment of experienced coaches and like-minded student-athletes turned his potential into reality, with the majority of his achievements occurring over these 2 years. After his A-Levels he began his degree at Newcastle University, further integrating sport and studies. Nathan is now captain of Newcastle's volleyball team and starting player for Team Northumbria, one of the best teams in the Super 8s (GB highest division).
During both sixth form and university, Nathan has actively been a part of England's junior program. Taking part in monthly training camps and making selections for the Northern Europeans and European championships (NEVZA & CEV). Recently he has been selected for England’s senior program, attending their training camps with future ambitions to make selections official games and tournaments next season.

Nathan's current goals and challenges?
This summer has been his busiest by far, competing in national events such as Volleyball England Beach Volleyball Tour during the weekends while training alongside England's beach volleyball program in the week. All of which has been necessary in order to raise the standard of beach volleyball in the country and aim to get results on an international stage.
One of Nathan's main goals he is currently working toward is the NEVZA beach championships in Norway at the end of this month, which will provide him with world ranking points opening up the possibility to enter other international beach volleyball events.
“Nathan may be new to beach but the way he has applied himself and committed to the program has meant that he is learning very quickly. His indoor experience matched with his athleticism and his ability to learn fast means that he keeps going. He has a very bright future within the sport of beach volleyball, I'm very much looking forward to seeing Nathan challenged at international level”.
